Cochineal is the dye used to achieve the red coloring in "Russian" strops
Approximately 24” long and 2.5” wide.
I couldn’t find any information on the companies, but I think this is from the 1940s - 1960s (if not earlier).

It could very well be that this strop was designed with the following stropping progression in mind: linen -> diamond embossed leather -> Russian leather.
