Rare German 5-piece Coffee and Tea Set - Chrome Plated and Engraved Diamond Point

This one of a kind chrome-plated coffee and tea set immediately drew my attention and I knew I had to learn its story. The diamond point pattern gives it an Art Deco or Mid Century Modern vibe and the pots, sugar and creamer are 4-footed. The handles on the coffee and tea pots are segmented and attached with a tiny bolt at each end; the handles of the sugar and creamer are one piece and mimic the design. It was given, and used, in the memory of Markus Schult.

On the handle of the sugar and creamer is carefully engraved “Zum Andenken” (“in memory of”). On the inside of the coffee and tea lids is engraved “Zum Andenken von Markus Schult * Frau van Herman Nelson * Frau” which translates to “In memory of Markus Schult * Mrs van Herman Nelson * Mrs”

There is tarnishing and scuffs on the pieces and evidence on the inside that they have been used (commiserate with age), but overall they are in good shape.

Teapot: approximately 7” tall and 9” from spout to handle.
Coffee pot: approximately 8.25” tall and 9” from spout to handle.
Creamer: approximately 4” tall and 5” from spout to handle.
Sugar Bowl and Lid: 4.75” tall and 6” wide

The items may show minor age-related wear and/or minor flaws consistent with the date of manufacture (please be sure to check photos carefully as they are part of the description).
