1932 German Heidelberg Rapier Letter Opener

This is a replica of a German Imperial Era student fencing sword. The interesting rapier-shaped letter opener has a black, red and white design painted on the basket hilt (some of the color has been worn off). Some of the silver finish is also missing on the blade (see pictures). 1932 is engraved on the hilt and ‘Heidelberg’ is engraved on the sword. As similar letter openers I found on the web do not have the 1932 engraved on the hilt, I think this was either made or purchased in 1932.
Approximately 7.25” long.
