This is a gorgeous teapot that incorporates a vast spectrum of artistic styles and influences in its design: The top features repousse flowers tightly bunched as if on the forest floor, while the paneled bottom shows etched floral designs. The handle, spout and lid seem to be Art Nouveau inspired.
At 130+ years of age, this teapot has retained its structural integrity, but the silver is worn in places. It must have been dropped at one time as the lid does not close properly and there is a dent on the base. There is so much beauty in this piece that shines through the imperfections introduced over the years. It would make a beautiful functional or accent piece in your home, whether your decor is shabby chic, farmhouse, country, romantic, rustic, or ????
Approximately 8.5” tall, 8.25” from spout to handle and 4” wide.
Circa 1881-1892.
Mark on bottom: Barbour Bros. Co Quadruple Plate, 997
