Late 1800s Celebrated Carvers Carving Knife and Meat Fork with Antler Handles - Putnam Cutlery Co

$58.50 $65.00

This gorgeous antique carving knife and fork are ready to grace your holiday table. Though the antler handles are different, I believe the two pieces are a set as they have the same design on the collars connecting the handle to the bland and fork.
The knife is 14.75” long. Fork is 10.75” long. There are a few tiny rust spots (see pictures) but overall these pieces are in amazing condition.

Mark on blade is Putnam Cutlery Co. Celebrated Carvers, Putnam, Conn. USA
Most Putnam Cutlery Co carving knives I found online have a mark that they were made in New Britain, Conn.
“Putnam Cutlery Company was organized in 1886, with a capital stock of $5,000, for the manufacture of knives of every description excepting table and pocket cutlery. A patented support to the blade, owned by this company, is very valuable, making it impossible to break or pull the blade from the shank. The late John O. Fox was the first president; G. D. Bates, secretary and treasurer.” - https://connecticutgenealogy.com/windham/history_of_manufacturing_in_putnam.htm Putnam Cutlery Co was bought by Landers, Frary, Clark in the early 1900's, who produced home goods and were based in New Britain, Conn. They kept the name Putnam Cutlery on some items through World War I.

Most items in my shop are vintage and are not brand new and come from estate sales. The items may show minor age-related wear and/or minor flaws consistent with the date of manufacture (please be sure to check photos carefully as they are part of the description). I do my best to describe any imperfections. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
