Adorable cream picture with fruit painted on both sides, the handle, spout, and lid. There are no chips or cracks on the teapot or lid, but there is crazing all over both pieces.
Makers Mark: Gibsons, Staffordshire, England
Approximately 5.5” tall, 4” wide, and 7.5” long (with handle).
History of Gibson & Sons: Gibson & Sons were manufacturers of earthenware, particularly teapots. Between 1907 and 1908 they manufactured the largest teapot in the world, capable of holding over 1000 cups of tea. From 1885 until 1965 they occupied the newly built Albany Pottery until moving out to smaller premises. Gibson’s had links with Robert Sudlow and their name is over the far entrance sign. Sudlow also operated the Adelaide Works in Burslem. (https://thecuriosityloft.co.uk/product/gibsons-staffordshire-1950s-cream-jug/)
