Rare Mason's Ironstone China chamber pot with flow blue Oriental dragon design

$247.50 $275.00

I knew this Mason’s ironstone china chamber pot was a special piece when I saw the beautiful oriental dragon work and a serpent handle. True to the transferware technique, there is some smearing in parts of the design that gives the lovely flow blue look. It is approximately 5 3/4 “ tall and 11” wide with no chips or cracks. There is some crazing on the piece, the most noticeable is on the bottom by the mark (see pictures). There is a small discoloration spot in the bottom of the bowl

Background: A search of Mason’s marks revealed that the word England was added to the hallmark in 1891 onward (source: https://janicepaull.com/xmark/marks.htm). A search for this particular design (blue dragon) turned up very few results, and only 2-3 were chamber pots. (One, a chamber pot made before 1891 with this blue dragon design sold, on 1stdibs for $415.)
